Wrocław as an example of effective tax irregularity monitoring
SatRev's collaboration in providing satellite images with the capital of Lower Silesia dates back to 2019 and aims to increase oversight of tax irregularities.
Through satellite imaging services provided by SatRev for the Wrocław City Office since 2020, nearly 1700 potential tax irregularities related to property tax have been detected. Based on these findings, 580 verification activities were conducted, identifying 321 actual irregularities related to reduced tax bases or lack of surface reporting. Due to the solution's effectiveness, the Wrocław City Office continues its satellite detection service with SatRev to increase measurement efficiency and property tax enforcement. Furthermore, the agreement includes additional functionality expanded to monitor agricultural land use.
Smart City satellite services provided by SatRev are part of a broader initiative aimed at modernizing urban services and management using modern technologies. The integration of satellite imaging combined with the analysis of complex tax declarations and their verification against the actual state positions Wrocław, Łódź, and Szczecinek as examples for other cities to follow, showcasing the potential of technology to enhance public administration using cutting-edge AI-supported solutions.
The use of satellite imagery for tax enforcement is gaining broader interest among public entities due to its effectiveness in identifying irregularities and ensuring tax declaration compliance with the actual state.
